FOOD & PLACE

FOOD AND PLACE

The MA students in Product and Spatial Design from Aalto University ARTS worked on the theme FOOD and PLACE. Students got a task to find a place in the Helsinki Metropolitan area that inspired them. The students went on a quest and found a variety of urban and natural environments to use as inspiration. Some got inspired by the ambience of a certain place and others looked either at their personal history, or at the people or activity in the chosen site. After visiting and documenting the places, the students designed and produced tableware. The designs were inspired by or designed to be used in the particular spot, or something experimental in between.

The final result of the project is displayed in one long table set with a variety of individual tableware suggestions. The set table symbolizes getting together, sharing food and ideas.
