This collection of tableware is inspired by the winter solstice, the darkest time of the year when cheerful company and feasting are needed most. The St. Johns Gothic Cathedral location functioned as the festival grounds for Juhannus. This project draws from that history and is instead influenced by the gothic aesthetic of the location. The aesthetic was the main concern when designing this project. The goal was to create a "contemporary gothic" collection. The objects are big in volume to accommodate for large groups of people. This set includes two ceramic serving bowls with ash lids, a glass decanter, and a large drinking glass. When the objects are gathered together their shapes provoke a visual impression of gothic churches.
